My dog ran away today, ignoring my orders to stop and come to me. I hate to do it, but it's time for an electric training collar. I knew where he was heading to (a favorite neighbor that he loves to visit), but we live on a very busy road. It's rural, but we are on a short-cut used by pulp trucks, gravel trucks, etc, and I couldn't bear to have him killed. I hooked him to a run outside when I got him home and didn't speak to him or pay him any attention while I was working on my woodpile. He still looks contrite tonight.

I hooked Duke on his run today while splitting and piling wood. I brought out his food and water dishes, but instead he laid near my feet and ate bark. He wasn't just chewing up bark and spitting it out - he was eating it!
