A strange phenomenon in Norway

A spiral-shaped UFO was spotted over Norway, causing widespread confusion and speculation. After some investigation, it was revealed that the spiral was actually caused by a malfunctioning Russian missile. The missile was part of an upgrade project for the Russian military, but it seems they may need to go back to the drawing board. Despite the explanation, the image of the spiral in the sky is still mesmerizing and almost looks like something out of a sci-fi movie.

It's strange isn't it? Anyone have an explanation?

Could it be man made?

Apparently it was caused by a rocket which manfunctioned, going into a spiral. Effectively it's a spiral shaped contrail. It does however look very very cool. I saw a youtube video of it and especially liked the part where the trail starts to disperse. It looks almost exactly like the way sci-fi portrays a wormhole opening up.

More specifically, it was the third stage of a Russian missile that malfunctioned. They're trying to upgrade their missile fleet, and frankly aren't doing a great job. Does look really cool though :)
