Emotion is the sensation of the enzymatic/biochemical secretion

Emotion:

Emotion is the sensation of the enzymatic/biochemical secretion pattern that selectively activate or suppress various parts of the brain, central nervous system to configure (mobilize) the body for a task. Each emotion promotes the effectiveness of a bodily, mental, or social function.

Is this right?

Some functions that emotion promote:
o Fright: Submission
o Anger: Aggression
o Happiness: Availability
o Jealousy: Competition
o Sadness: Assitance
o Bordom: Exploration
o Depression: Isolation

Why does an emotion like depression exist? What good is it to isolate?
