What are the 3DNow!(+) , NX & VMX instruction sets ?

I recently bought a AMD 64 x2 5200+ based system & it is capable of understanding the 3DNow! (+) ,NX & VMX instruction sets . What does this mean ? Of Course my system is also capable of understanding other instruction sets such as SSE , SSe2 , SSe3 , MMX(+) & x86-64 .
