SUMMARY

The discussion centers on the lack of dedicated forums for chaos theory, self-organized complexity, and emergence within scientific communities. Participants note that while these fields are respected, they do not receive sufficient attention on platforms like Physics Forums. For mathematical discussions related to chaos, the Differential Equations Forum is recommended, while applications in scientific contexts can be discussed in Biology or Systems Engineering forums. The conversation highlights the ongoing challenges in deploying formal theorems in these areas.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of chaos theory and its mathematical foundations
  • Familiarity with self-organized complexity concepts
  • Knowledge of differential equations and their applications
  • Awareness of interdisciplinary applications in biology and systems engineering
NEXT STEPS
  • Research the latest developments in chaos theory and its mathematical applications
  • Explore self-organized complexity in biological systems
  • Study the role of differential equations in modeling chaotic systems
  • Investigate forums and communities focused on systems engineering principles
USEFUL FOR

Researchers, mathematicians, and scientists interested in chaos theory, complexity science, and their applications across various disciplines such as biology and engineering.

Hello, I don't see any specific forum about chaos, self-organised complexity, emergence etc

Are there any particular reasons why?
How is currently the status / reputation of these fields among scientists?
Time ago I read that they couldn't yet deploy any actual theorems in the mathematical sense, but just a few rough principles. How is the situation so far?

In which forum/s are such issues mostly posted?

It's a subject of good repute, but it doesn't get enough attention at Physics Forums to warrant its own Forum. If you're talking about chaos and complexity as a purely mathematical theory, then the Differential Equations Forum is probably the most appropriate place, as chaos is most closely associated with that. If you're talking about applying it to scientific problems, then you might put your topic in (for example) Biology (for evolution), Systems Engineering (for dynamic systems), etc...
