I'm not sure what to think. In principle I believe in the concept of net neutrality but if people want to pay extra for better services then why shouldn't they be able to? Consider how cheaply for instance you can get books on the kindle. You can't do that on the regular internet.

We have all paid in to get the Internet started, up and running, etc. When should commercial enterprises get to decide whose access gets throttled back or controlled? Never!!!! Big companies like Google that sprang up and became wealthy on the backs of our tax dollars shouldn't be in control of the public resources that allowed them to exist.

The problem of Internet traffic is the classic tragedy of the commons. Unfortunately, profit maximizing decisions made by corporations often lead to outcomes that offer less utility for the average user than if the commons were regulated. People need to understand that old slogans like "What's good for GM is good for the nation" was an advertising slogan.
