Ion mobility spectrometry
I am curious as to how the ion detectors that security officers use when swabbing people work. Some prisons stopped using them because they get false readings by perfumes and other scents. Is it programmed to detect specific chemicals and narcotics or does it detect and analyze every molecule on the swab and then security personel decides if anything poses a danger?
