Quenching plain carbon steel and alloy steel, hardness question?
Firstly I have the values mixed up, so I'm not sure whether it is plain carbon steel or alloy steel.
So my question is, when measuring the hardness from the Jominy bar, the results came out even ie. the hardness values were between 54 and 57 througout the length of the bar. Why is this so? Normally you would expect the hardness to decrease as you go further away from the quenched end. |
