SUMMARY

The equation tan(2x) = 1 yields multiple angles due to the periodic nature of the tangent function. Specifically, the solutions include 22.5°, 112.5°, 205.5°, and 292.5°. This occurs because the tangent function has a period of 180°, allowing for multiple angles to satisfy the equation within a single cycle. Understanding the periodicity of trigonometric functions is essential for solving such equations accurately.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of trigonometric functions and their properties
  • Knowledge of the tangent function and its periodicity
  • Familiarity with angle measurement in degrees
  • Basic algebraic manipulation skills
NEXT STEPS
  • Study the periodic properties of trigonometric functions
  • Learn how to solve trigonometric equations involving tangent
  • Explore the unit circle and its application in trigonometry
  • Investigate the concept of inverse trigonometric functions
USEFUL FOR

Students studying trigonometry, educators teaching mathematical concepts, and anyone interested in solving trigonometric equations effectively.

When i have tan2x = 1 i get two angles: 22,5 and 205,5.
But I also get 112,5 and 292,5 why?
Why don`t I get just two?
