Homework Help Overview

The problem involves determining the work done by gravity on a load that is being pushed across a horizontal surface. The context is rooted in the principles of physics, specifically relating to forces and work in mechanics.

Discussion Character

  • Exploratory, Assumption checking

Approaches and Questions Raised

  • Participants discuss the relationship between the direction of the gravitational force and the horizontal movement of the load, with some suggesting that the work done by gravity may be zero due to this orientation.

Discussion Status

The discussion is ongoing, with participants exploring different perspectives on the work done by gravity. Some have reiterated the reasoning behind the assumption that the work is zero, while others have prompted further clarification on this point.

Contextual Notes

There is mention of a previous thread that may contain additional context or clues relevant to the current discussion, indicating that participants are building on earlier conversations.

A man pushes a heavy load across a horizontal floor. What is the work done by gravity on the load?
a. The work depends on the weight of the load.
b. The work done by gravity is negative.
c. The work done by gravity is zero.

the load is moving horizontally where as the gravitational force is vertical so i think its zero??
