Making Small Scale Model of a Filter

I'm trying to make a small scale model of a media filter system for water.

If I have the flow rate, surface area, volume of media used, diameter and height of the full scale system, how would I make a comparable small model if I have the cylindrical vessel I want to use to make it? Also, any tips on figuring out how much filter media to use?

I appreciate any help or suggestions. Thank you!
