Need Experiment Ideas

I need experiment ideas. Urgently.
I have to come up with an idea for an experiment and then follow it through and write a ful technical report on it. I have access to an unlimited variety of sensors buts very limited resources. I have never designed an experiment and could do with some help brainstorming.
I am a 2nd year Mechanical Engineer at Texas A&M

Ideas I have come up with (feel free to critique):
Incandescent vs. Fluorescent light bulbs involving efficiency and pay-off period
Forces of a swing linked to distance a baseball goes
Tensile tests using different cross-sectional shapes of 1040 steel (e.g. I-beam, hollow cylinder, square, solid cylinder)
