Rotating Wave Approximation
Hi
My teacher said that the rotating wave approximation (RWA) is a good approximation, when 1) νfield >> δ (δ is the detuning between field and atom -- so this means near resonance) 2) νfield >> ΩRabi (ΩRabi is the Rabi frequency -- so the field has to be weak) Is there a physical way of seeing why these are the demands for the RWA? Best, Niles. |
