Pretty obsessive, is it not? But MMO gamers spending real money for virtual possessions is common practice. In a game I've been known to play numerous items, up to and including entire accounts, have been auctioned off on ebay. I never heard of anything fetching that high a price, but I have heard of stuff going for a grand or more. Humans, go figure.
