Find ecliptic coordinates of a point on celestial sphere antipodal to galactic center
1. The problem statement, all variables and given/known data
Find the ecliptic coordinates (λ,β) of the point on the celestial sphere directly antipodal to the galactic center. The g.c. is at α=17h42.4m, δ= -28°55' 2. Relevant equations sinβ = cos(ε)sin(δ)-sin(ε)cos(δ)sin(α) and tan(λ) = [cos(ε)cos(δ)sin(α)+sin(ε)sin(δ)] / [cos(δ)cos(α)] 3. The attempt at a solution Am I supposed to assume epoch = 2000 so I can solve for ε? |
