SUMMARY

A double major in Aerospace Engineering and Mechanical Engineering typically requires an additional 2-3 years of coursework after completing the sophomore year. The exact duration depends on the specific curriculum and requirements of the university. Students should consult with academic advisors or department chairs for precise estimates. Course overlap between the two majors may reduce the total credit requirements, potentially shortening the time needed to graduate.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of Aerospace Engineering curriculum
  • Familiarity with Mechanical Engineering principles
  • Knowledge of university credit systems
  • Experience with academic advising processes
NEXT STEPS
  • Research specific curriculum requirements for double majors at your university
  • Consult academic advisors about course overlap between Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering
  • Investigate credit transfer policies for dual degree programs

How many more years does a student need to take to finish his B.S degree in Aero and Mechanical (double major) after sophomore year?

For a double major in electronics and computer engineering, at a couple colleges I've looked at, it takes about 20 to 25 more credits. That's total additional credits for the double major.

It depends on the specific requirements and curriculum of the university or college. Typically, a double major in Aero and Mechanical would require an additional 2-3 years of coursework after sophomore year. However, this can vary and it is best to consult with an academic advisor or department chair for a more accurate estimate. It is also important to consider the potential overlap in courses between the two majors, which could potentially reduce the total time needed to complete both degrees.
