SUMMARY

The discussion centers on the differences between the 1984 edition and the latest edition of R. Wald's "General Relativity." Participants confirm that the current edition available on Amazon is still the 1984 version, leading to confusion regarding any updates or revisions. The primary interest lies in the theoretical modifications made in the newer editions, although no specific new edition was identified in the conversation. The lack of availability of a revised edition suggests that significant theoretical updates may not exist or are not widely disseminated.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of general relativity principles
  • Familiarity with R. Wald's contributions to theoretical physics
  • Knowledge of academic publishing and edition revisions
  • Ability to navigate online academic resources for updated texts
NEXT STEPS
  • Research the latest academic publications on general relativity
  • Explore R. Wald's other works for insights on theoretical advancements
  • Investigate online academic databases for potential updates on the book
  • Join forums or groups focused on theoretical physics discussions
USEFUL FOR

The discussion is beneficial for physics students, educators in theoretical physics, and researchers interested in the evolution of general relativity literature.

R.Wald "General Relativity"

Hi,everyone,i got a question:"What are the major (and why not the minor) modifications in the contents of the book R.Wald "General Relativity" between its 1984 edition and the last one,the one which can be found on 'amazon' at an awful price ?"

I'm mostly interested in the purely theoretical part...

Thanking you in advance,

Daniel.

I wasn't even aware there WAS a more recent edition. I have the 1984 edition also, and it's the only one I can find on amazon. Can you provide a link to the new one?

- Warren

Ooops, there isn't,indeed Amazon is selling the 1984 edition.I assumed the part with "new" would refer to a later (probably revised) printing. My mistake.

Thank you,Warren.

Daniel.
