I'm taking Modern Algebra 1, Real Analysis 1, and Number Systems next semester. Could someone give me an idea what to expect from these courses and maybe the workload?
The discussion revolves around the expectations for advanced mathematics courses, specifically Modern Algebra 1, Real Analysis 1, and Number Systems. Participants share insights on the content, difficulty, and workload associated with these courses, as well as personal experiences and advice for prospective students.
Participants express a mix of opinions regarding the difficulty and nature of the courses, with no consensus on whether one course is definitively easier or harder than another. Some agree on the rigor of Real Analysis, while others have differing views on Modern Algebra and Number Systems.
Participants highlight the variability in course content and difficulty across different universities, as well as the potential impact of individual instructors and textbooks on the learning experience.
Students preparing to take advanced mathematics courses, particularly those interested in Modern Algebra, Real Analysis, and Number Systems, may find this discussion relevant.

Have you checked that it's ok to take the Number Systems at the same time as Analysis and Algebra rather than before? If you're at the point where you can handle what will be required from the Algebra and Analysis courses, it looks like the Number Systems class will be cake.
That's encouraging.mathwonk said:1) don't take advice from anyone else, make your own decisions.
