So I heard a strong solar flare can emit so much radiation that outside the magnetic field of the earth one would die instantly. How big of an area extending away from the sun does such a solar flare cover? Would it extend to cover much of the solar system, or would it cover just a small area, so that it would be not very likely that such a flare hits anything or anybody?
