hey, quick question, how intense is a 5.5 earthquake on the Richter scale, and about how intense is a normal or standard earthquake?

quick answer:
see the Richter magnitudes chart on this page
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richter_scale

Moderate 5.0-5.9 Can cause major damage to poorly constructed buildings over small regions. At most slight damage to well-designed buildings. 800 per year

I'm not sure what is considered a "normal" or "standard" earthquake, but the smaller they are the more frequently they occur.
