Does anyone have a reference or know where I can see the solution to the exploding grenade problem?
The discussion revolves around the "exploding grenade problem," with participants seeking clarification on the problem itself and its implications in dynamics, particularly concerning the center of mass (COM) and the behavior of fragments post-explosion. The scope includes conceptual understanding and potential mathematical reasoning related to the dynamics of explosions.
Participants do not reach a consensus on the specifics of the exploding grenade problem, and multiple viewpoints regarding its implications and related concepts remain present.
There are unresolved assumptions regarding the nature of the explosion and the specific mathematical treatment of the problem, including the distribution of fragments and their motion.
What is the COM?marlon said:Is this an application of the dynamics of the COM ?

I don't know. I heard about a problem where inside an explosion (if you can not see the edge of the explosion) then at any point it appears as if everything is moving away from that point. It is was also used to describe how the universe looks like it is expanding no matter when you look from.marlon said:center of mass
I know about divergence and Green's Theorem, etc. I am looking for the specific problem.gregmead said:look up divergance
