Is climate change still debated?

In summary, there is a current understanding that civilization is heavily reliant on fossil fuels and their emissions contribute to climate change. Despite this, there are still debates and arguments against this view. The most reliable reference for this topic is considered to be the IPCC report on WG3. However, this question violates the PhysicsForums Climate Change/Global Warming Policy and may be locked due to its broad nature.

My current understanding is that civilization is built on fossil fuels, and the resulting emissions cause climate change. I'm wondering if anyone still has worthwhile arguments against this view, or whether there really is a debate.

I currently consider the following reference to be the most reliable:

This question is in violation of the PhysicsForums [thread=757267]Climate Change / Global Warming Policy[/thread], which explicitly states that
Threads such 'Is global warming real' or 'Are humans the cause of global warming' are too broad and are subject to being locked.

Overly broad questions are of dubious nature in general. Someone who asks "teach me everything about relativity!" is essentially asking people to write a book (multiple books) on the subject of relativity. That's not good in general, and it is explicitly against the rules here.

1. Is climate change real?

Yes, climate change is real. The overwhelming majority of scientific evidence supports the fact that Earth's climate is changing and that human activities, such as the burning of fossil fuels, are the main driver of this change.

2. What is causing climate change?

Climate change is caused by a combination of natural factors, such as volcanic eruptions and changes in the Earth's orbit, and human activities, such as deforestation and the burning of fossil fuels. However, the current and rapid rate of climate change is mainly attributed to human activities.

3. Is climate change still debated?

While there may be some debate about the specific details and impacts of climate change, the overwhelming majority of scientists agree that climate change is happening and that it is caused by human activities. The debate now focuses on finding solutions and mitigating its effects.

4. Can we reverse the effects of climate change?

While it may not be possible to completely reverse the effects of climate change, it is possible to slow down or even stop its progression. This can be achieved by reducing greenhouse gas emissions, promoting renewable energy sources, and implementing sustainable practices in our daily lives.

5. How will climate change affect us?

Climate change will have wide-ranging and significant impacts on our planet and our lives. This includes sea level rise, extreme weather events, changes in agriculture and food production, and loss of biodiversity. It is important to take action now to minimize these impacts and protect our planet for future generations.
