I can't believe the picture of a building site in a big church-style building isn't inspiring anyone to google!

If you go to their website and click photo gallery and select Spain, there are only 20 photos.
globalgeografia.com/album/spagna.htm That is about average for the European listings. globalgeografia.com/album/album_europa.htm Spain was my second guess after the UK. (I don't know why.) |

Surely the Sagrada Familia is one of the most astounding, beautiful and famous pieces of modern architecture in the world, not to mention being a monstrous building site, worthy of any visit to, well, Europe?

Brewnog,is that a cathedral in Barcelona...?
It looks similar to the Dome in Milano, but i'd say it may be Barcelona, though. Daniel. |

i don't know where that is either, but that parking looks really really weird. is that a one way road? you have to back-in diagonally into the space?

Dex, yes, it's in Barcelona.
It was designed by Gaudi in the 1880s, and construction started in 1882. People often think that it looks like a building site because it's being refurbished. In fact, it's still being built. Some estimates suggest that it might even be complete within the next century or so. The tallest tower hasn't even started being constructed yet. If anyone's ever in Spain, they should definitely check this out. Even though it's not complete, you can go on tours around it, and climb the spires. It's a stunning piece of architecture. |
