Hard Drive Capacity

Does anyone know if Windows XP Professional has a cap on how much hard drive space it can see? I'm planning on getting a 250 GB hard drive and putting it on there.

nope i don't think so - well not at that sort of size, I have a 200Gb hard disk that it seems to love! Perhaps though you might want to partition it to help you remember where everything is and to speed up load up times in browser windows.

Windows XP's maximum space level must be tremendous since i think it can initialize memory at 1.1 exabytes or 500 petabytes per file

However, there may be a limitation on what your BIOS/drive controller can handle... it depends on your on your motherboard. You may need to buy a Ultra ATA/133 PCI adapter card. This may be useful http://www.md4pc.com/questions/58.htm
