SUMMARY

The discussion centers on creating a twisting effect in Flash MX 2004, specifically simulating torsion as seen in a fixed rod. The user seeks guidance on implementing this effect, referencing a similar effect called "corkscrew" found in SwishMax. The challenge lies in applying the twisting effect to a cylinder rather than a plane, as the visibility of the twist diminishes on curved surfaces. Participants are encouraged to share .fla files or techniques to achieve this effect effectively.

PREREQUISITES
  • Familiarity with Flash MX 2004 animation techniques
  • Understanding of basic 2D and 3D transformations
  • Knowledge of creating and manipulating symbols in Flash
  • Experience with SwishMax effects and functionalities
NEXT STEPS
  • Research how to create 3D effects in Flash MX 2004
  • Explore the use of ActionScript for dynamic animations in Flash
  • Investigate advanced techniques for simulating 3D objects in Flash
  • Learn about the limitations of Flash MX 2004 regarding 3D transformations
USEFUL FOR

Animators, Flash developers, and graphic designers looking to enhance their skills in creating dynamic visual effects in Flash MX 2004.

Hello guys. I'm having trouble of how to produce a twisting effect/motion in flash mx 2004. The twisting I'm referring to is when you twist a rod at one end and the other end is fixed. It is like the concept of torsion.

So anyone have any ideas how to make this? An .fla perhaps?

umm guys, just experimented with swishmax. i saw this effect called corkscrew that smehows resembles a twisting effect. I just need to make very small rectangles and line them up to each added then add the effect to each one of them and each one of them slowly turns, creating a seemingly twisting effect. My only problem now is to apply it to a cylinder. The twist doesn't seem to be visible if it isn't a plane. So anyone have an idea?
