Discussion Overview

The discussion revolves around finding appropriate tutorials and guidance for using ANSYS software, specifically in the context of various applications such as heat transfer, fluid dynamics, and fracture mechanics. Participants seek assistance in locating resources and addressing specific modeling challenges within ANSYS.

Discussion Character

  • Exploratory
  • Technical explanation
  • Homework-related

Main Points Raised

  • One participant requests help in finding a proper ANSYS tutorial without specifying a particular area.
  • Another participant asks for clarification on the specific area of interest, suggesting categories like stress analysis, fluid dynamics, and heat transfer.
  • A participant expresses a need for help using ANSYS specifically for heat transfer applications.
  • Links to various ANSYS tutorials and resources are provided by one participant, emphasizing the utility of search engines for finding information.
  • Another participant inquires about resources related to fluid dynamics within ANSYS.
  • A participant working on a project in fracture mechanics seeks advice on modeling cracks in ANSYS, asking for guidance on suitable elements, modeling multiple cracks, applying moments, and modeling orthotropic plates.

Areas of Agreement / Disagreement

Participants express various needs and questions regarding ANSYS tutorials and modeling techniques, but there is no consensus on specific resources or solutions to the challenges presented.

Contextual Notes

Participants' requests highlight a range of applications and challenges in using ANSYS, but the discussion does not resolve the specific issues or provide definitive solutions.

In what particular area? Stress analysis? Fluid Dynamics? Heat Transfer?

A yahoo search that took all of about .5 sec resulted in the following:

help needed for modeling cracks in ansys

Hi..guys..

I am doing my m.tech project on fracture mechanics..

I have to model orthotropic plate containing holes frm which 2cracks are emanating radially frm each hole.

my problem is i have to apply out of plane loading like bending moment and torsion.

So can any pls suggest for following problems

1.which element is suitable for above problem..?
2.how to model multiple cracks in ANSYS..?
3.How to apply moments over a plate..?
4.how to model orthotropic plate...?

thanks in advance...
