What is Purcell: Definition and 38 Discussions

Henry Purcell (; c. 10 September 1659 – 21 November 1695) was an English composer. Although he incorporated Italian and French stylistic elements, Purcell's was a uniquely English form of Baroque music. He is generally considered to be one of the greatest English composers; no later native-born English composer approached his fame until Edward Elgar, Ralph Vaughan Williams, Gustav Holst, William Walton and Benjamin Britten in the 20th century.

How much SR is needed for Purcell and Morin?

TL;DR Summary: How much special relativity Is needed for Edward M. Purcell & David J. Morin It clearly is needed to fully understand this book and I have what seems like a good book that introduces relativity (A.P. French) But I am not wanting to start it yet and it’s around 300 pages long...

Purcell EM Problem 1.2: Theory Behind Numerical Solution?

The author start of with $\frac{1}{(y+\sqrt{3})^2} - 2 \cdot \frac{1}{1 + y^2} \left( \frac{y}{\sqrt{1+y^2}} \right) = 0$ and arrives at the equation $y = \frac{(1+y^2)^{3/2}}{2(y+\sqrt{3})^2}$ The solution is merely by iterating (use an initial guess value of y, calculate the RHS, then use this...

Why would a magnetic monopol's field be 1/r^2?

Hi, I was reading Purcell's Electricity and Magnetism. Could this be deduced from magnetic fields produced by electric charges? If...
