Apocalypse (from Ancient Greek ἀποκάλυψις (apokálupsis) 'revelation, disclosure') is a literary genre in which a supernatural being reveals cosmic mysteries or the future to a human intermediary. The means of mediation include dreams, visions and heavenly journeys, and they typically feature symbolic imagery drawn from the Hebrew Bible, cosmological and (pessimistic) historical surveys, the division of time into periods, esoteric numerology, and claims of ecstasy and inspiration. Almost all are written under pseudonyms (false names), claiming as author a venerated hero from previous centuries, as with Book of Daniel, composed during the 2nd century BCE but bearing the name of the legendary Daniel.Eschatology, from Greek eschatos, last, concerns expectations of the end of the present age, and apocalyptic eschatology is the application of the apocalyptic world-view to the end of the world, when God will punish the wicked and reward the faithful. An apocalypse will often contain much eschatological material, but need not: the baptism of Jesus in Matthew's gospel, for example, can be considered apocalyptic in that the heavens open for the presence of a divine mediator (the dove representing the spirit of God) and a voice communicates supernatural information, but there is no eschatological element.Scholars have identified examples of the genre ranging from the mid-2nd century BCE to the 2nd century CE, and examples are to be found in Persian and Greco-Roman literature as well as Jewish and Christian. The sole clear case in the Jewish Bible (Old Testament) is chapters 7-12 of the Book of Daniel, but there are many examples from non-canonical Jewish works; the Book of Revelation is the only apocalypse in the New Testament, but passages reflecting the genre are to be found in the gospels and in nearly all the genuine Pauline epistles.
Whilst perusing a D&D forum, I stopped to answer a question someone put out which was "what would happen if we used the gate spell to open a portal to the middle of the sun?"
I replied (this was a while ago) and whilst I'm reviewing it, I am troubled by the fact that this uses such high forces...
As the covid19 spreads it makes me think of a scenario if a virus that turns people into zombies causes a pandemic. This scenario has been featured in many TV shows and games. I wonder if the government will authorise the citizens to kill the zombies or just initiate a lockdown like it is now...
If there were some kind of catastrophe that ended civilization, is there any way that the survivors could continue to use computers? I suppose modern electronic equipment can last pretty long before it starts breaking down, but the replacement components, semiconductor chips, wouldn't be...
Below are some excerpts from a news article:

In the United States, scientists recently found the population of monarch butterflies fell by 90 percent in the last 20 years, a loss of 900 million individuals; the rusty-patched...
So, I'm writing something taking place a few centuries after a global nuclear war, but I'm unsure what the climate would be like, both in general and in the story's specific setting - the western coast of Canada. Would the average temperature or amount of yearly rainfall change? Would areas...
I know this question is really stupid, but i was wondering, what if the entire world is destroyed, and millions of years later, Humans are creates again, and they manage to make a computer, which is compatible with todays internet servers. Honestly, i don't even know for sure how the internet is...

I'm pondering right now how to design a bunker that would have the greatest chance to withstand apocalypse
First I need to know:
-How fast does the meteor have to be to wipe out 99% of all life on the earth
-How deep does the meteor dig and what magnitude Earth tremors and what speed...
Never until now have I seen Apocalypse Now. It was Apocalypse Now redux, with some extra scenes in it.
This movie is wonderful. Awesomely wonderful. The whole experience is magic. You have to see it and appreciate it.
It does not follow Heart of Darkness very closely. I see that...
PASADENA, Calif. -- A 100-foot-diameter asteroid passed close but harmlessly by Earth on Thursday, astronomers said.
The hurtling rock passed about 26,500 miles above the southern Atlantic Ocean at 3:08 p.m. MST.
Astronomers were continuing to observe the asteroid, 2004 FH, which was...
"Then a shadow crosses the massive, polished Dome of the Rock.. And another shadow. Suddenly the air is swarming with mud-coloured jets and helicopters that have crossed the Mediterranean Sea. Tanks, like a colony of ants, charge across the desert. Bombs explode. Buildings tumble. The sky goes...
