The circles within circles reminded me of a Feynman lecture where he talked about scientific discovery the same way. First you discover a propeller and then upon further investigation with better equipment you realize that there are propellers on the tip of the main propeller blades spinning far faster that you could see... and that they have propellers on their tips...
Also the whipping motion reminded me of the skill one tries to develop in martial arts where the trunk propels the arm, elbow, wrist and fist to hit the target.
