Thank you very much for your help, HallsofIvy :) I think I figured it out now. I don't know what I was thinking before. I guess I just got desperate after spending so long stuck on this one problem and started trying anything I could think of.
dX/dt = .25 - t/10
dX / (t - 2.5) = -(1/10) dt

Homework Statement
A 5-gallon bucket is full of pure water. Suppose we begin dumping salt into the bucket at a rate of .25 pounds per minute. Also, we open the spigot so that .5 gallons per minute leaves the bucket, and we add water to keep the bucket full. If the saltwater solution is always...
lol, mathishard, I feel your pain :wink:
I got mine out Thursday morning and look like quite the chipmunk today. Cheeks are super swollen and starting to bruise :cry: They were feeling better yesterday but now I've got a very gross taste in my mouth and one side of my mouth is pretty...
Just a quick update :wink:
Barely any pain 12 hours post-op, but some annoying numbness that is the result of (hopefully temporary) nerve damage. Apparently, the nerve wrapped itself around the root of the tooth :eek: Overall, this has been way better than I expected. I've read over the sheet...
Oh... they did. I was just looking for more advice from personal experience and stuff I guess. Also, posting on Physics Forums helps eliminate the boredom of sitting at home with nothing to do :)
I just got back from getting my wisdom teeth out. Any forumites have advice on keeping the swelling down / recovery? It doesn't seem too bad so far. My mouth is numb, but no pain whatsoever (yet):biggrin:
We just got our power back here this evening. It went out on Thursday, I believe. No damage to the house, but it looks pretty much like a disaster zone in the neighborhood. Lots of large all over the road. We were actually the "lucky" ones. Others in more rural parts of the city have been told...
a) Do you know how to write out Keq? (Hint: Use the law of mass action).
b) Make an ice box
2H2S(g) <--> 2H2(g) + S2 (g)
i .200 0 0
c -2x +2x +x
e .200 - 2x 2x x
Keq = [((2x)^2)(x)] / [(.200 - 2x)^2]
Congrats, Lucretius! I have a few friends going up to Western this year and a sister who will be a junior there this Fall. It's beautiful up there.
I'm down at UW for this year, which also runs on the quarter system and I think you're courseload looks solid. Not too heavy but that's good for...
Get Barron's prep book for Math II. Most people say its overprepares you a lot, but that's not really a disadvantage. Once you can get about a 700 on a Barron's test, you can be pretty sure that your capable of getting 800 on the real one (the ridiculous curve makes the test very easy to score...
Hi,
I'm a little stuck on a problem involving voltage and conservation of energy. The answer that I came up with involved a negative value for kinetic energy, which doesn't make sense to me because mass and v^2 are never negative.
Problem: A proton is accelerated from rest by a uniform...
I'm not sure how you got 16.2. Did you take into account the charge of electrons (-)? Also, make sure to check the units of the metal sphere.
Aw, astronuc, beat me to it :wink:
I apologize I haven't learned latex yet, so this formatting might be a little hard to read.
Basically Gauss's law is helpful because it tells you the amount of charge at a given point (the flux). Gauss' law states that the integral of E dot dA is equal to the amount of charge enclosed divided...
