I hope people realise that the WolframAlpha file I was sent from one of the co-authors, that presents the calculations of photons 2 and 3 through the Mach-Zehnder interferometer (with various wave plates) in the Zeilinger et al (2012) experiment before a bell-state measurement occurs on them...
I would say systems 1 and 4 are still in a superposition state when 'measured' - because the system entangles with the apparatus - no 'definite' state (ie polarization) arises, as per the linearity of quantum mechanics.
Yup. As far as I'm aware, there is no reported damage from the earthquake. Just Cyclone Gabrielle, especially in the upper North Island and Hawke's Bay.

The house rattled for a while then increasing started to shake - for a significant period of time. As that was occurring I got an Android alert to expect 'light...
Not too sure what you mean by deepening quantum mechanical predictions.
All I asked was what you hoped to achieve by doing the experiment and remarks about posts similar to yours, but appear to have received a long winded response that makes me even more suspicious about your intents (whether...
What are you hoping to achieve by doing the experiment? Test QM predictions?
To be honest, I've seen a lot of posts about these - and similar - experimental setups on this forum as of late. Not too sure what the craze is, though.
Interesting, "Perhaps you recognise me, it's your favourite president" said "It never happened with us under the Trump administration and if it did, we would have shot it down immediately."
However, "A senior defence official confirmed that Chinese surveillance balloons passed over the US "at...

Thanks for mentioning Arq! I currently use CrashPlan. But Arq looks better priced - and the Premium version offers support for up to 5 computers! I'll investigate further. (I'm using Windows)
The Internet speed on a device can be affected by how fast the device is, also. Eg. if the HDD is writing at a slow speed, don't expect a file to download fast.
I'm looking forward to having a laptop with a SSD drive. We replaced our desktop over the weekend, and I cannot believe how fast things load. As I told my High School Computing teacher, who I still keep in touch with, I'm going to be shocked - and adjust to - when I don't need to wait forever...
Sounds like this HP laptop I have at the moment, yet that is only over three years old.
The first laptop I ever got was a Sony VAIO. Back in 2006. Let's just say, it didn't last long. Even though it was costly. How naive of me.
Before my nurse left for Canada in May, she said the health systems around the world are all suffering. Even in NZ our health system is stretched. If things aren't done to improve it now, I dare not think what things will be like when winter arrives this year....
When I caught Covid in March and had a persistent cough afterwards (weeks later), my GP prescribed a 5 day course of Prednisone (two 20mg tablets daily) which seemed to do the trick.
But I'm gathering in the UK, to get ahold of a GP you need to go through a national phone number.... I would...
I mean, when I worked at NZ Post, the staff had computers running XP. But NZ Post paid Microsoft beyond the end date to support and continue supply updates for it.
I guess that's different than running a computer, connected to the Internet, using XP - seemingly as if the computer you do your work on (like my current HP laptop running Windows 11). A lot of the software, I suspect, would be out of date.
Your lab did the right thing by disconnecting your PCs...

Thank you for signing my copy of your memoir in 2008.
I can't agree with the answer to "can we agree consciousness is not required to collapse it" as yes.
A good book on the matter is https://academic.oup.com/book/3705. Another such book is https://global.oup.com/academic/product/consciousness-and-quantum-mechanics-9780197501665?cc=gm&lang=en&

It actually says "about three consecutive words".
All in all, be reasonable and use common sense. Instead of arguing with the university. I'm sure they'd be sick of you doing that.
If you are deliberately copying the words, then quote them. That's what I take from reading it.
Be a bit more liberal in how you construe the webpage. Don't be so literal.
