I have this situation in physics with calc. It takes a great amount of time to solve one problem. In your case, being on one problem for an hour sounds normal to me. If you take more then one hour to solve this problem, skip it and come back later.
Hey, everyone. I'm preparing to apply for a undergrad. research position. I have the link about the research topic: http://electron.physics.buffalo.edu/hzeng/
For those who did not goto the link, its about nano-scale magnetism. I want to be part of the research project because magnetism is one...
That's a great idea! I hope there are study rooms in my new university. I cannot find anyone face-to-face that will major in physics. I'm starting to believe there are only a few who are physicists.
usually I'm worried about the time management and social life in dorm room life. The other issue is getting a job and maintaining a good balance with my studies. Also, I've been in school for three years(I'm a junior) And all I have to take for the next semester is physics 2 and other science...
Hello again, everyone. I got accepted to the University at Buffalo and I'm an out of state student. My tuition is already covered for the fall semester and I'm going to live in a dorm with three different people. I don't mind the people just the survival to get around and trying not to ruin my...
We all make mistakes. We are human beings and not perfect angels.
I suggest you find what you really like to study. If computers is your passion, follow it! Its better to have a passion on what you like. Do some soul searching...
Good luck. :)
I need some help from this community once again. I have to write a Schooling Gap essay and I was wondering if its OK mention that I never finished high school but I did receive my GED certificate.
Here's the instructions:
A letter outlining the type of activities you have been involved...
With all the calculus involved in this book, I've never taken a Calc 3 course. Does it matter to study calc 3 while studying this physics book with calc involved?
I already sent everything required at UB and they gave me a person's number. Also, I heard that I can dodge the foreign language requirement courses because getting n A.A. is not required for this university. Any thoughts on that?
The financial committee approved my appeal but its too late. I've already gave up on their answer to help extend my financial aid because I went over 150% of my credits. The classes I need were Intermediate Spanish and asked them to give me calc 3. They agreed to give me both of these classes...
I have an old text book titled: The fundamentals of Physics-3rd edition(Authors:Halliday and Resnick). It was published in 1988 and I want to know if an old outdated book can still be useful. I looked at the pages and some are bent or folded. Still, all the pages are there. I want to use this...
Thanks everyone for cheering me up. What I learned from this experience was gaining a better study method and learning more about myself. I'll continue my path as a physicist and prepare for the challenge ahead.
That seems to be my case. I did so well in previous math classes and then this course was really tough. New material like sequence and series was a real brain buster for me. It was challenging and fun to see this type of material, however; it was stressful at times. I need to find a better study...
Thanks, you're right about me being over dramatic. I just hate the fact that I push so hard in this class and then, BOOM! "C" is the grade I have for this course.
I got a "C" in Calc. 2....
Well, it looks like I'm going to change my major from being a physicist to computer programming:frown:. I feel bad because I studied my a## off on the finals(last Tuesday I studied for the final and took it this Tuesday). I feel like a total failure and maybe being a...
My mind just got blown away. I need to make calls and see which university in New York only requires a transcript. I wish my advisers told me this.
Edit:
BTW, I have about 83 credit hours. I'm sure I am eligible to transfer.
Of course it matters. I need an A.A. degree to transfer at any university in the USA. Well, so far I've been looking at the universities I want to attend in New York and they require an A.A. degree.
Please, explain to me further why one does not have to worry obtaining an A.A. degree? This is...
How can I attend a university with no SAT and ACT scores? BTW, attending a class from a CC is a better idea because the professor will have time for each student(25 students in one classroom). However, the professors from a university will not have any time for 236 students in one classroom...
Ok, here's my final draft. I will turn it in today at the office. Please, help me out!
Here's the final draft:
Dear Financial Aid Appeal Committee,
I received an e-mail from the Financial-Aid office claiming that I did graduate from Valencia and earned my Associates in Arts Degree. I did...
Here's a new one:
Dear Financial Aid Appeal Committee,
This letter is to explain the terms on not meeting my graduation requirements, my goals at Valencia, and my actions to graduate as soon as possible.
First, I will explain on not meeting my graduation requirements. The reason why...
Ok, here's the link to the worksheet(http://www.valenciacc.edu/finaid/documents/1011SAPAPPEAL_FINAL.pdf [Broken]). BTW, I went over 150% of my program hours. I just need to explain to them what class I need to complete. I just hope my letter is convincing enough.
Here's my new draft:
Dear...
Hey everyone!!
Need some help on this Financial aid appeal letter to the committee at my community college. I was going to post this to academic guidance thread, but physics is not involved.
I went over 150% of program hours and they will not pay for my class that is actually towards my A.A...
I spoke with my advisor today. She said the withdraw date is Nov. 5th and that I can withdraw this class if it is not needed for my minor(which is not). I can withdraw the class now and have no effect on my GPA.
I just discovered that today by looking into catalogs from other universities. I asked my calc. 2 professor if I really need stats to minor in math and she said "not really, but it will look good on your transcript." Today, I'm deciding whether to withdraw basic stats or find some interest in...
I'm thinking of minoring in physical chemistry instead of math. The reason why is because I believe chemistry and physics mix well. I wanted to minor in math, but going deeper into the Ph.d path of a physicist covers all the math.
To get straight to the point, I want to withdraw intro to...
My motivation are the people that inspired me. Galileo Galilei, Isaac Newton, and Albert Einstein are the people that inspired me to try and become a physicist. They all made great discoveries about the universe and the world we live in. This is why I want to become a physicist: to make...
No, I'll ask him tomorrow and update it on this topic.
I bet the astrophysicists were in that number as well. I'll ask him about the source to this.
Then I should just stay on my course to have a minor in mathematics. Maybe it will be useful to me but some have a different opinion.
