    Resume Feedback, Mechanical Engineering student

Thanks for the feedback. Yea I know a resume is one page, I intentionally made it longer so that I could cut out irrelevant stuff from there later to get to 1 page. Yes, the format was not really appealing to me either. I uploaded my old resume format I've been using for the last few months if...

    Resume Feedback, Mechanical Engineering student

Can someone read over my resume. Thank You Here is the file. I uploaded it this site, because I don't know when an Admin will ok the file. http://www.badongo.com/file/7507007 I replaced a lot of the names with generic stuff since this is a public form. Couple of things that I was unsure...

    Another laptop question

I doubt you will need a "special" laptop just for mechanical engineering. Chances are that any software that you use will be in the universities own computer lab. Depending on the university, they may not give you the program (CAD, matlab etc) to use at home. I would just go with something cheap...

Resume Question about Research Experience and Publications

Thanks for the suggestions. The fair was 2 days ago, and the research experience on my resume brought some pretty nice discussions with the recruiters. I basically put it under experience: <Name of Lab> Volunteer Laboratory Assistant •Located required materials to conduct experiments...

Resume Question about Research Experience and Publications

At this moment I am typing up my resume for an engineering career fair coming up this week. I lost my resume doc from last year, so I have to type it up from scratch and memory. The old one was pretty standard like objective, education, experience etc. I did some volunteer undergrad research...

    Considering mechanical engineering

By cutting alot of material.... or speeding through it a better word. When I took statics and strength of material we spent a huge amount of time on the statics part, but towards the end the professor was running out of time so he decided to give us an integrated chapter of the strength of...

    Considering mechanical engineering

Maybe you should do research with a prof in that area to see if you like. Also internships

    Considering mechanical engineering

Man i wish my school would enforce them. Just about everyone skips prereqs which really ticks me off sometimes when you are trying to add a course that you need, buts its all full. I full audit would definitely kick many people out of the course because of prereqs. I rarely skip them, and the...

    Considering mechanical engineering

You can actually take statics and dynamics together if you wanted to. After taking dynamics, I didn't really use much of statics for that class, maybe towards the end of the quarter when we did plane kinetics of rigid bodies, because you need mass moments of inertia. If you really remember all...

Advice on undergraduate summer research positions

During last 2 weeks I've been running around asking (mostly e-mailing cause they are rarely in their offices) professors in the fields of solid and structural mechanics for research positions. I got a late start cause I didn't know when to start looking for positions. Turns out at my college 6th...

    Trig in physics

You should definitely know your trigonometry and geometry I guess. From my experience it seems that most students, including me, don't remember much of their trig or geometry. Luckily I do my HW in my schools math and engineering library, so trig and geometry textbook is always close by.

Calculators. To use or not to Use.

When I took my course in Linear Algebra, the instructor did not allow calculators for the quiz or exams. During some of the quizes and exams I see this guy in the corner with a freaking calculator with his body slighty turned so that the instructor wouldn't see him. I was like :surprised , come...

Calculators. To use or not to Use.

It depends on the instructors policy for calculators. I have both a ti-89 and 86, but I tend to use the 86 for just about everything.

Which Engineering School is the Best!

Can't go wrong with any of those schools. Here's what remember from hearing input from my instructors about some of those schools. SJSU- very good program SFSU- very good program as well, they really make sure you graduate in 2 years and they help you find a job. Cal poly slo- They do a really...

    Test Problems

Wait... Is it the math thats discouraging you or physics? Maybe i read your post wrong, but i gotta get back to cramming. Also i didn;t learn the basics of algebra until after i graduated HS. Gotta love that k12 education. Guess not everyone can do the algebra

    Test Problems

Solving problems is good, but don't forget to learn the theory/fundamental concepts behind the problem. Anyone can do the algebra and punch #'s into the calculator.

    Schools Community College Experiences?

Hmm maybe we do. I spent a ridiculous amount of hours in the MESA center. Were you a tutor of physics, chem, and math there? If you were, then i think we know each other.

    Schools Community College Experiences?

Goodman is probably the best physics instructor in the district, but many don't llike him cause his tests are hard and that he is a hard grader. I've known a few people to go all the way to canada college to take Partlan for physics, because he is easy.... Tadashi is way too easy. Most of the...

UCLA or Cal Poly San Luis Obispo Mechanical Engineering

I got accepted to both schools as a transfer student form a community college. i'm having trouble deciding where to go, because both colleges have very good engineering programs. I think about it every freaking day, but mostly cause people keep asking if i have decided yet. :uhh: Most of the...
