    Schools Choosing the right university

I really like the physics classes I've taken so far at my school, and we're not really known as a party school, everyone here seems so brilliant. Check out their physics department here at William and Mary, I don't know the ranking for it (the school itself is a "public ivey" though), but it's...

Engineering "Late Bloomer" wishing to become a physicist, engineer, astronomer, or comp-sci needs your advice

great advice! I actually want to learn python myself, and I feel the same way as you were saying, sometimes feel a bit "dumb" because I'm so computer illiterate, especially compared to most (if not all) students majoring in a STEM field. which online course would you recommend?

Programs Math, Physics & Computer Science Online Majors

You can always take the general education requirements (GERs) through such schools online, while maybe taking a few coursera classes in math and physics so when you do transfer, you can hit the ground running and not have to worry about any (or many) classes outside your major that they might...

I quit my job to go back to school

I agree Chronos, sometimes the older students are much more motivated and less distracted, even with family/financial obligations that most traditional students don't have. That was certainty my case! If I had went straight to college after high school, I might have majored in something useless...

Programs Would physics or math be the best choice major?

Thank you for the advice Hercuflea, my school doesn't offer a geophysics program, just a general type geology with a stuffed schedule for geo electives (not too many in what I'm looking for, plenty for paleontology and environmental geology type interest) and then a regular physics program (they...

Programs Would physics or math be the best choice major?

awesome advice, and yeah, I'm really into the large scale processes, not just for geology, but for earth science in general (hydrology, atmospheric science, etc.), not really into mineralogy or most of the core courses they have for this major.

Programs Would physics or math be the best choice major?

Thank you jbrussell93! That's what I was trying to come at. I'm really into geophysics, and the geology program here is lacking in the quantitative aspects (they don't offer any geophysics classes either, much less a program for it). My advisor told me not to worry to much about the math and...

I quit my job to go back to school

jay956, that is so ironic, I just finished for my scuba certification through them as an elective class at W&M, haha. And btw, I meant to say I'm NOT naturally good at math in my original post. So, I take it you are doing the engineering program at jtcc or jsrcc? I was looking at their...

Programs Would physics or math be the best choice major?

Hi, I need some help from people who are currently in these majors/ fields. I just transferred to a university from a community college, with original interest of doing their Earth science program. But, the more I reevaluate my interest, and look into grad schools, the more it seems I should...

I quit my job to go back to school

Jay956, welcome, I'm also a new user here. I wanted to say, I've had a VERY similar situation as you. I did so-so in high school (actually good in my STEM classes, even took engineering), but was incredibly stupid and dropped to get a GED. Years later, I realized I LOVED learning and had to go...
