Yea thought so :)
I don't mean I want to do the calculation in my head in 5 seconds, just being able to do large multiplication calculations in my head you know.
I thought I seen once a website that had a program that can teach you to do large multiplication calculations...hmmm...
Where can I learn "Quick" math - Help
I don't mave MUCH of a Math back ground, mainly math used for the line of work I am in (Currency Analyst) and programming.
However, i was just inspired by a film I watched about a math expert, who can do calculations in his head like 89 x 437, in...
This is a spawn from the suggestion forum where I suggested we start a Financial Math/engineering sub-forum in the math section. I am just testing the waters to see if there is enough interest in financial related math/engineering.
I am able to answer any qustions regarding Financial...
 I'll send it right over
Well, if this thing happens, I plan to help out as much as possible! I really look forward to it :)
Just want to get some mods to reply and tell me what I should do to test the waters.
Thanks again, take care.
Thanks to both of you :)
I think this would be a great addition to PF, since there are no good forums out there on Financial math. I started my own financial/hedge/risk management forum, but it never took off. lol
Maybe insted of a Mod, I could be an "Advisor" or "Homework...
I was thinking it would be a good idea if this forum has a little sub-forum for financial math or financial engineering?
We could include algorithms, and advanced models and a whole bunch of things that are related to financial math.
I have the credentials to mod it, but of course don't...
I think it is because this country (USA and Canada:) ) has grown to love money and possession. You give people an option of spending over 4 to 8 years in school taking physics - maybe longer - and at the end of it, you get maybe 50k starting out, or spend the same amount of time in school...
Yea, we are making more bombs like SRAM-T, insted of the megaton nukes that were created in the cold war. I read a journal that stated the USA still has Nuclear missiles locked onto Russia and vice versa.
Does anyone think we will see a nuclear exchange in our life time?
I agree with this statement! I blame this partly on the media, only explaning the worst of something, and not educating the general public.
Take a Dirty bomb for instance. You ask any person on the street, and because of the media and movies they think a "dirty" bomb is a nuclear...
I have another question about radiation, mainly the type that was given off in Chernobyl (Reactor)
some of you gave a good example of what it does by effecting out CNS, so it's like the electrical system of a car shutting down.
Can you give me an example of a healthy person, walking...
What is an Anti-matter bomb? :)
Do we even have a rocket that can take a 1000MT nuke? Maybe use a couple of the Soviets Tsar designs. lol
Only way - Mutate out minds and get smarter. Might need to wait until the next human mutation takes place :)
Thank you very much the for details and informative replies.
It is human nature for us to think of the worst possible outcome, nevermind if that outcome is possible or not, we as human must worry about something. I unfortunately am in the business of risk and analysis, so this is...
Once again, thank you very much for the informative reply - You have answered all my questions :)
I wanted to ask this one last thing:
I have heard (Again, sorry for being vauge) that is the core heats up far past where it should be, and nothing can cool it down, and melts through the...
Wow, thank you all for the VERY fast reply! Also, thanks you Morbius for the detailed reply :)
EDIT: Thank you also Astronuc for the detailed reply :)
I just have 2 more questions, One for my research and one for my own personal interest.
1- (research) - RBMK design - sorry if...
Can anyone answer a few questions I have about chernobyl and related. I am doing some research on something related, and its hard to get good information about this. Here they are.
1) - Can someone explain the steps of the disaster? I mean, lets say is the cooling system failed...
No, just meant that the research I am doing, the out-come can only be a movement up or down.
Sorry for being so vague, but it's kind of hard to explain. Maybe if I explain the research a little more.
Let's say you are charting something that is seemingly random, but with some...
Great, thank you for that reply!
Do you know, or know a site that can explain in detail this principle? I need to know this principle and type of physics in great detail, as my research, funny enough, is based on an object hitting the ground :)
I am doing research for a technical analysis study, and I need a little help.
What determines the amount of "bounce" an objects creates when it hits the ground?
Now, this object is a perfect shape hitting a even floor, so the angle should have nothing to do with it...
