Can you skip some material in a physics book?

Thank you both! I will definitely look into that book as well.

Can you skip some material in a physics book?

Really? No one has any suggestions? It seems pretty simple. Do you need to read the thermodynamics and wave & light sections to understand the electromagnetism section?

Can you skip some material in a physics book?

There is a book that I would like to read "Electronics for scientists" but it has physics as a prerequisite and I will not be able to take a physics course till next year (I would just take the one at my high school but the teacher is not very good and I would rather start with a calculus based...

    Possible application of Genetic Algorithms

Well I have about 16 months. During the school year I can put in 5 hours & on weekend more. When you say these algorithms is there another type that you know of that could be more effective for this project? So do you think there is no way they could be effectively used. I have a whole...

    Possible application of Genetic Algorithms

Ok so I have a view ideas in mind for a project I was planning on doing involving genetic algorithms for my high school science fair class. I do have 3 mentors one a mathematician, a computer scientist who focuses on GAs, and a physicist who focuses on nano structures. here where I live, but...

    Vectors in a 3D plane

OK so I am a bit confused. I am doing multiplication of vectors. I am a bit confused about the angles between two vectors. Lets say a(vect)=(3.0)i-(4.0)j; b(vect)=(2.0)j+(3.0)k in unit vector notation. Or generally how are angles between two vectors in 3d defined. Not just in terms of the dot...

Good online or physical location junk/scrap electronics, science

Hello. Im looking for a good scrap or junk yard that has good supplies for low prices, mainly electronics, science, aviation, military. Just a place that sells decent quality stuff that can be used for science related stuff. Like old radars, satellite dishes, monitors, medical electronics...

Help finding solutions to sqrt(a+sqrt(-b))+sqrt(a-sqrt(-b))=4 and

In the first I tried simplifying and got a=8, but sqrt(-b) always cancelled out. For the second I tried substituting for x or x^2 and it always cancelled all the other values out.

    Electronics parts complete assortment

Well I have no where else to look. I have tried various websites stores etc. I have looked into various sources sites extensively. And so far everything is just a source of aggravation. I can find all of the various parts but its over priced and takes to much searching to find parts. I just...

Law Of Sines, deducing addition formula

Well this is an old post, but its similar to mine. In the question it says even if b or c is obtuse. And the altitude method will not work. Does anyone know or a secondary method. Or a way to show it works for B or C being obtuse.

Would it harm my later in life to take calculus 1 online?

Ok well I think I'm going to do it online, quick question though so do you guys think that 5 months is enough time to learn calc 1 and 2, I will have 5 months online for Independent study and as far as asking question I have a good family friend who is a math professor that offered to answer any...

Would it harm my later in life to take calculus 1 online?

Well credit for transfer isn't really all that necessary because I'm just dual enrolled at the university and high school so they will allow me allowing me to take latter math courses and allow it as my prereq to calc 2 if I say I already took the class. And I will probably take them again in...

Would it harm my later in life to take calculus 1 online?

So this summer I was planning to take calc 1 at a school, but they cancelled it. Very aggravating. But I can take the course online somewhere, so will it hurt me later on to take it online? Also does anyone know of good accredited places that I could take calc 1? I was thinking BYU or I don't...

Derive average rate of change formula of cos

    Q. Use the addition formula cos(u+v) = cos(u)cos(v) - sin(u)sin(v) to derive the following identity for the average rate of change of the cosine function: (cos(x + h) - cos x) / h = cos x ((cos h - 1) / h) - sin x ((sin h) / h) A. cos(x+h) = cosxcosh - sinxsinh subtitute this to...

Website with cheap used physics/math texts?

I have gotten a lot of books that way the books aren't perfect usually very old, but I like them. I just wanted to know if there was a site for this. Their actual value is usual only a couple dollars.

Website with cheap used physics/math texts?

The only reason I say not amazon itis because I have viewed most of the cheap books they have on there. I was curious if there was a sure that sold books universities were getting rid of for only a couple bucks.

Website with cheap used physics/math texts?

Hello I was just wondering I anyone knew of a good site to get old physics and math texts, at whatever age from new to 70+ years, possible a site that conects university libraries wishing to clean out texts. HW question in Trig relations

Its sqrt(3)/5 Ok so could I just ust sin(alpha)=sin(pi/2+arccos(sqrt(3)/5)=-sqrt(22)/5 And tan (alpha)=the answer above ^/cos (pi/2+arccos(sqrt(3)/5)=-sqrt(22)/-sqrt3.

    HW question in Trig relations

Q If cos(alpha)=-sqrt3/5 and alpha is in the third quadrant, find exact values for sin(alpha) and tan(alpha). A. Well what I did was use the pythagorean theorem so (-sqrt3)^2+(opposite)^2=5^2. then in the end I got sqrt22 for opposite so then sin(alpha)=sqrt22/5 and tan alpha =sqrt22/-sqrt3...

Schools Does one need Physics with calc or can one just take college physics

Well this summer I'm taking calculus 1 and then in the fall I will be in calc 2 and the fall is the next available time that they offer calc based physics. I love math and math based classes and is my belief I'm a fast learner, but as far as self study I could do that but I would prefer to take...
