1. ### Young's modulus for copper

Haha change over its for the best :) thx for all the help and the nice chat All the best for new year
2. ### Young's modulus for copper

Well tbh I by per bag :p but when I was just a lad I worked on a fruit stall selling them in lbs but then it all went metric so is kilo now :)
3. ### Young's modulus for copper

Ah sorry I am being dumb today, I was thinking a Newton was a Pascal, think maybe I should take a break from this study for a day ;p and nope not from the contiguous 48 as much as I would love to live there and study at MIT I am English just got back into studying I am a Carpenter by trade...
4. ### Young's modulus for copper

Ah thanks my conversions need a lot of work but now i see 1mm^2 = 1/(1000x1000) 1x10^-6 so my new equation is F = 140000000 x 0.000001 => 140 Pa Thx all for helping me
5. ### Young's modulus for copper

Ah yes I see that F= 140000000 x 0.001 so my answer with units should be F= 1.4x10^5 Pa ?
6. ### Young's modulus for copper

Got exams in January so just wanna make sure im correct the questions read exactly like this a) The sample of copper wire reached its elastic limit when the stress is 1.4x10^8 Pa and the strain is 0.035 Calculate the Young's Modulus for copper. My attempt is Y= Stress/Strain => Y=...
7. ### What is the value of the band gap in a good conductor

Ok guys thx for all the rapid response mucha grazsia i will email my teach now and find out what he wants as it has to be handed in on monday (Arrgggh) I will update this thread with what his replie is for those that are interested. Thanks all PF members.
8. ### What is the value of the band gap in a good conductor

there is no gap but there is still a value it will be a negitive value my lecture wasnt happy with my explaination of there being 0 value he wants specific numbers
9. ### What is the value of the band gap in a good conductor

The difference between conductor, semiconductor and isolator is the size of the gap the smaller the better the conductivity conducters can overlap but unfortunatly i need specific numbers of the energy gap value like Si =1.11eV but i need the value of a good conductor not a semiconductor.
10. ### What is the value of the band gap in a good conductor

sorry i moved it to correct forum i rushed in, in my panic
11. ### Hooke's law atom structure

What happens to the atoms in a spring when the spring looses its elasticity in hookes law? I am aware of the hookes law F =-kx but for my assignment i am also to state what happens to the atoms when the spring becomes plastic and deforms how and why? my asumtion is that they atoms...
