Why do dogs smile and chimpanzees cry?

I didn't mean superior as in it would work way better for them. I'm sorry if it came off that way. For us verbal and sign language is superior than grunting like chimps. I do agree with your statement about humans intruding in their lives. ~Kitty

Why do dogs smile and chimpanzees cry?

This is true. SA brings up a good question of why didn't they develop it themselves if it is superior? They have demonstrated the brain capacity is there. ~Kitty

    Blood types

Oh Mattara? Mattara where are you? That wasn't something I read. I heard about it though. I was just wondering. Yeah mixing outside the body for coagulation is a good idea. How do you go that without opening the bag and exposing the blood to air bourn infections? ~Kitty

    Blood types

Wait...is that if you receive the wrong blood type in a transfusion? What if you have already had a transfusion, but you're in the emergency room and they have to transfuse you but they don't know what blood type you are so they use O negative? Will it kill you? ~Kitty

    Flaws of the musculoskeletal system

This isn't a correct statement since pain in the lower back is attributed to the fact humans used to walk on all fours, but when they became bipedal the spinal column did not advance as much as it should have. If it had the lower portion of the spinal column would much thicker and stronger than...

Why do dogs smile and chimpanzees cry?

was a show that I watched last night on how humans attribute emotional characteristics to animals. In the show they featured a segment about a chimpanzee who was taught sign language to communicate with humans. This isn't something new and many of us have heard about it. However, what I did...

The Evolutionary function of the hymen.

I do think Morris' statements are a bit farfetched. I don't think there is really any evidence to support his claims about abstaining form sex because it hurts. I think that can really be tossed out the window simply by looking at the typical sexual behavior of a teenager; there is a larger...

    Blood types

Where did the system of A, B, O and such come from? What blood type is the most rare? The article made sense, but it didn't describe how you find out if you are + or -. I'd assume you would take a blood test obviously, but what do they do to the blood to determine what it is? ~Kitty

Not to be mean or anything...but I don't know many people around their late teens that are very wise. :rolseye:

Is it possible for one to not have wisdom teeth?

Is it possible for one to not have wisdom teeth? And what does it mean for them to be impacted? Why are they called wisdom teeth in the first place anyway? Just a interesting quiery I've been thinking about. :) ~Kitty

    Lactase - lactose connection

Well yes considering that pressure and temperature has an affect on the concentrations of the lactase enzyme. One molecule would breakdown a gram of lactose if it was potent enough and had a long enough period of time and if the conditions for that to happen were good. ~Kitty

    Lactase - lactose connection

Sometimes the lactose doesn't always work. It has happened to me even when I have taken enough. Sometimes the lactase enzyme doesn't always break down everything even if you haven't pushed yourself over LI limit. Typically with the over the counter Lactaid it says if you are eating foods...

    Cancer- increased risks

How great is your friend's risk of cancer? Does she know she is at such high risk? Sometimes not even knowing you are at risk can increase the chances of getting it because you aren't taking the precautions to lower your risk. I'll look up some other risk factors. ~Kitty

    Kitten's ears

Thanks Moonbear. Enuma, cute! I've never seen a cat do something like stand in front of the A/C. I've wondered about the amount of body heat they produce with the amount of food they ingest. I would think their metabolsm is much different from ours, but I'm not sure by how much. ~Kitty

    Onset of labor in pregnancy

Pardon me for being ignorant, but I haven't had any children yet. Doesn't large amounts of stress during the pregnancy increase the risk of high blood pressure (can't remember the name. Its right on the tip of my tongue!) and premature labour? ~Kitty

    Kitten's ears

My kitten Salem, who is almost a year old now, is a vocal outdoor cat. An she loves to be petted. Especially when you pat her head and her ears. One thing I contimually notice is her ears are hot to the touch. I don't know if its normal or not. Does anyone know anything about this? ~Kitty

    Green tea

I find when I feel a cold coming on if I drink 5-6 servings of green tea that I feel better the next day. Could that be attributed to the antioxidents in the tea? I don't know of any other teas that work the way green tea does. Does anyone know of a tea with similar effects to green tea? ~Kitty
