I have this job, I work Fri-Sun 8AM-8PM and get the other 4 days off with a full time salary and benefits (IT field). And needless to say, life is much more fun, when you have time and the freedom to pursue whatever interests you may have.
My friend completed completed a biotech degree and is completing an MBA in finance. What kind of jobs can she get? Does she need to have a Masters to get a really good job? Or is getting certification in something is the best way to go? Can someone please advice?
I have a question. I have a undergrad degree with double major in Math and Computer Science and a Masters degree in Computer Science. If I get into financial industry, will my salary have a very low ceiling because I don't have a PhD?
I double-majored in Computer Science and Applied Math as an undergrad and have a Masters in Computer Science. Is it worth for me to pursue a quant because I won't be trying for a PHD in the future? I mean I will hit celing in salary wise very quckly right if I have just Masters.
I second the "Are you kidding?" notion.
Anyway I'm a Computer Science and Math major. However I'll just give what a math major here at my university takes.
FIRST YEAR:
1st semester:
Math 111 Calculus I
2nd semester:
Math 112 Calculus II
SECOND YEAR:
1st semester:
Math 213...
Thanks, I was ready to take Regression Analysis but being it a evening class(I hate them), I wanted to look for an excuse to register for the other class which is a morning class. But I don't know how the material is for either class.
Next semester is my last. I have one Math elective left to pick, how would you rank the following Math courses in terms of difficulty of the material:
Math 341 - Introduction to Statistics (3-0-3)
Prerequisite: Math 244 or Math 333. Covers the theory and applications of classical statistical...
There is a rule that a student cannot posses instructor's solution manual. It is exclusively for instructors only. Therefore, selling never comes into the question.
Yes there is, it is copyrighted material, therefore one cannot distribute this without permission. Copyright holders are cracking down on half and ebay against such sellers.
That's a good idea, I have the book and will look through it.
This professor teaches so many courses that it's not even funny and most people hate him. So, ratings relating to the course I'm looking for this proffesor is rare.
My room is very hot. I plan to use this product to keep my room cool:

Will my computer be at risk if I leave this on almost 24/7?
Wow, this sucks. I wrote it out right on the paper but when I kept calculating I kept switching the x and n-x place so i had a greater answer. I can't believe this, I calculated it like 5 times on the test and still didn't realize the mistake!
There was a question on the test with the following information (binomial distribution)
n=10
p=.2
Find the probability that X is :
a. At least 3
b. At most 3
For part a I did P(X>=3)=1-P(X<=2)
For part b I did P(X<=3) :
\sum_{x=0}^3 perm(n, x)*p^x*(1-p)^(n-x)
The last part is...
I'm working on a double degree which would require me to take 19 credits every semester during sophmore, junior and senior years to finish on time. I am in junior year and I'm on to track to finish in 4 years. Is it better to take internship during college years and delay this degree or take up...
\frac{\partial^2 \phi}{\partial x^2} + \lambda \phi = 0
We have to analyze eigenvalues.
My prof. gave me this answer for \lambda>0 it is
c*sin(\sqrt(\lambda))x+d*cos(\sqrt(\lambda))x
Shouldn't it be -\lambda inside the squareroot? If not can someone explain how he got this?
I bought new speakers, it came with a subwoofer which is not magnetically shielded. In the manual it says keep it at least two feet away from PC monitors, hard drives etc... Does this only apply only when the speakers are on? What's the worst that could happen if I don't follow this?
Same here...
Taking:
Complex Variables
Partial Differential Equations
Statistics
3 Senior level Computer Science courses.
I have to stay up to 1:00 at night and sometimes 2:00 everyday and it's still not enough! Taking 19 credits every semester with the hope of finishing my double major in...
The course is a 400 level course but when I look at the description of it, I'm thinking it should be easy. Am I wrong?
Course description: Topics include the economics of insurance, individual risk models for a short term, survival distributions and life tables, life insurance per year, life...
I'm going crazy trying to figure out how to do this. Here are two eigen value solutions: r=-1+-2i to a problem. And the two eigen vectors are (-2i, 1) and (2i, 1). How do I covert this to a real-valued solution? The book used (-2i, 1) to come up with the solution x = c * e^(-t)( -2sin(2t)...
I have 2 problems that I'm not getting the right answer to:
y"+4y=3sin(2t)
I chose my guess to be: y=A[tsin(2t)]+B[tcos2t]
with this guess I'm getting only part of the answer right
I also tred this guess: y= A[t^2(sin(2t)]+ B[t^2(cos(2t)] + C[tsin(2t)]+D[tcos2t]
I got the same...
The equation is y=e^(-t)-e^(2t)
It says: Determine maximum value of this solution for t>0 and the value of t where this maximum occurs.
Doesn't the maximum occur at 0? So what is the question asking?
I don't understand how one visualizes in row pictures of equations. There is an example in the book:
With A=I(the identity matrix)
1x+0y+0z= 2
0x+1y+0z= 3
0x+0y+1z= 4
They drew these in the xyz plane. I don't know how they did this, can someone explain me that?
The book problem...
The book problem was:
\int_{-2}^{2}\int_{x^2}^{4} x^2y dydx
Their answer was:
\int_{0}^{4}\int_{-\sqrt{y}}^{\sqrt{y}} x^2y dydx
Why was there a -sqrt(y) in this problem?
Damn it, I put -sqrt(y) because in the book, the same problem (with x^2 in the lower bound of the first integral) like it put -sqrt(y) in the lower bound for it's solution. I would get lot of points taken off... it's a 15 point problem, the professors are harsh, i would get taken off -10 or...
One question on it was reverse the following integral and then evaluate it:
\int_{0}^{\pi}\int_{x^2}^{\pi^2} x^3y dydx
So I got the following reversed integral:
\int_{0}^{\pi^2}\int_{-\sqrt{y}}^{\sqrt{y}} x^3y dxdy
When you first evaluate in respect to x you get 0, am I doing something...
