Exploring Neal Asher's Prador Aliens: Do You Have Any Fave Aliens in Fiction?

I think I know what you mean. Still I think they have some redeeming qualities. The way they have an abundance of offspring just ready to thaw out and control with pheromones and food-additives. I'm not really clear about their females. I mean are they intelligent at all or is their "society"...

Judge gets scientific method better than scientists

As a European it's refreshing to see at least some degree of sanity in the US legal system. Karl Popper would've been proud had he been alive. EDIT: Or maybe "proud" isn't the right word. At least he accomplished something of lasting value.

Can you restore data from a deleted file that was previously emptied?

I'm obviously a dinosaur. Incidentally, I had an extremely disgusting talk with a self-confessed pedophile when I was a moderator on a filesharing network (DC++) a long time ago (I knew which keywords to look for, I never downloaded anything from him.) I soon had the authorities on the phone...

Can you restore data from a deleted file that was previously emptied?

Just FYI, POSIX has this one: shred "Overwrite the specified FILE(s) repeatedly, in order to make it harder for even very expensive hardware probing to recover the data." Beware of the CAUTION mentioned though.

Yeah, enjoy the ride. In another thread the OP seemed to be lacking some self-confidence. Don't make that mistake. Demand what you and your work are worth (and what your education entitles you to of course). (Or was it the same thread? Still a valid point though.)

Wise words indeed. Getting stuck programming something you know is never gonna get used (and yes that happens in industry, I've tried - for the military even) or is boring is not even remotely funny.

Will there be a million people on the moon by 2060?

It's a logistical impossibility. Like evacuating Earth while babies are being born left and right. Even if they found an antimatter mine they'd need only physicists, technicians and military to protect the investment. Why they'd put someone like me up there is beyond me. But yeh, when they...
