1. Random Thoughts part 6

That was from a while back when I taught.
2. B Question about expanding a function to first order

Interesting. This gives a formal proof that a linear function gives a perfect approximation, since f"(x)==0 for f(x)=mx+b.
3. B Question about expanding a function to first order

Exceptions would be linear, constant functions where expansion would be valid everywhere.
4. Random Thoughts part 6

But I think the question meant was that of what fraction of a day is 75 minutes. So you divide 75 by 24*60.
5. Random Thoughts part 6

Ouch! I hadn't been told that in a while ( by my students, who recorded my classes and then listened to them to put themselves to sleep.)
6. B How to know if a Euclidean space is not a 3-sphere?

A connection is essentially a choice of isomorphism between vector spaces ( of the same dimension, of course).
7. B How to know if a Euclidean space is not a 3-sphere?

You need to define a connection to define operations between vectors based at different tangent spaces.
8. How to view previously posted threads?

Sorry Josh, I am not really sure. I think if you go to the lounge section of this site I think they have a subsection for admin-type questions of this sort. I would check further but I am in my phone , which makes any checking more difficult.

Pretty sure they had a 47+ word for each of those? Unterstrandenfahrvernugengegeiserschaften? ( The "Ubercalifragilistikenexpialisheizer" is silent.)
10. Random Thoughts part 6

Another weirdly-phrased question: " How do I turn 75 minutes into days?" Wait at least 22 hrs and 45 minutes?
11. How to view previously posted threads?

I would suggest to copy the link to any post you make. I have a folder with these links. Worse, do a site search ( upper right )with a word for your topic and/or authored by yourself. Or, by topic and author: I assume that fear of injection-like search strings restrict the ability to...
12. Optimization of objective function that's the product of unitary matrices

Only thing I can think of is, since squaring is monotonic for non-negatives, just seek to maximize ||M-M_target|| without concern for the square if you want to maximize or minimize difference if you wish to minimize the full expression.

Addition of jokes: I dont know where my sister wants to go. I guess Alaska. If she wont tell you, Jamaica.
14. Basis of eigenvectors

Notice that for $x$ the kernel $Ax=0 = \lambda 0$ for any $\lambda$

I don't know where my sister wants to go. I guess Alaska .
16. Any Experience with SQL Server Dev + Python& ML Server?

Hi all, Curious if anyone has worked with SQL Server Dev 2017 with ML and Python Server, i.e., with the full data analysis platform and what your experiences are.
17. I Assigning a value for integrating a divergent oscillatory function to infinity

I wonder if a https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ces%C3%A0ro_summation is what you're looking for?
18. Random Thoughts part 6

Volunteers in the street: "Sir, would you like to change the world". Reply:"What, you mean in exchange for a new one?". Volunteers:"............??!"
19. Random Thoughts part 6

Met this guy I hadn't seen in a few months. His hair , during this time, went from being dark to being almost fully white. I knd of gasped, but had no idea if I should ask him about it. He acted as if it was normal, as if nothing had happened. Then again, there was this other guy I knew who...

A bit more refreshing. "Refreshinger"?
21. Random Thoughts part 6

Me: "I appreciate it" Cost Accountant: " I depreciate it"
22. B How to know if a Euclidean space is not a 3-sphere?

Bah, never mind, we have just x,y,z as variables. Duh!
23. B How to know if a Euclidean space is not a 3-sphere?

So you find it is of constant curvature. Is that enough?
24. Random Thoughts part 6

Not very refreshing either.
25. B How to know if a Euclidean space is not a 3-sphere?

Sorry if I am missing something obvious, but how do you know it is a sphere? I assume it is the parametrization, but I dont see how you can collapse 6 parameters into a single one.

Windows' Computer on wait: "Refreshing information": OS: Windows 10 Home Edition 8GB Ram..... Not so refreshing.

Yeah, around 6'11/2", 210. She seemed scared out of her mind when she ran away, even at around noon in a crowded place.
30. Random Thoughts part 6

Weird-funny situation: walking in the sidewalk , this woman sideways to me, at the same "level", both of us walking at the same speed, kind of awkward. She speeds up to move ahead, so do I ( not on purpose). She slows down, so do I. I then just stop and let her ahead. It was daytime in a crowded...
