Why Can't Regular Members Mark Threads as Solved Anymore?

In summary, there is currently an issue with marking threads as solved since a recent software update. There was an attempt to replace the solved tags with thread prefixes, but it seems that only mentors have access to change these prefixes after a thread has been created. This is an issue that needs to be addressed, either by making the tools accessible to regular members or finding a way to bring back the old method of adding solved tags. However, this may take some time as there are other issues that Greg is currently working on.

Why can't I mark threads as solved anymore?

It hasn't been working since the software update. Greg did warn us that some things might not be working at first.

This is an issue we need to work on. There's a way to add prefixes to threads that we thought would replace the solved tags, but unfortunately, it seems only the mentors can get to the tools to change those prefixes once a thread has been created (it's one of our editing tools). So, either Greg needs to find a way to make those accessible to regular members, or a way to reimplement the old method of adding solved tags. We'll need some patience on this issue, as there are several others Greg is working on already.

OK, its not really a major problem but was a nice feature. (You can mark this thread as SOLVED now :) )

1. Why is there no option to mark threads as solved?

The option to mark threads as solved is not a universal feature on all platforms or forums. Some forums may not have this feature enabled, while others may have it disabled due to technical limitations or other reasons.

2. Can I request for the thread to be marked as solved?

Yes, you can reach out to the moderators or administrators of the forum and request for the thread to be marked as solved. They may be able to manually mark it for you or provide an explanation as to why the option is not available.

3. Will marking a thread as solved affect its visibility?

No, marking a thread as solved will not affect its visibility. It will still be visible to other users and can be searched and accessed like any other thread on the forum.

4. Why is it important to mark threads as solved?

Marking a thread as solved helps other users who may have a similar question or issue to quickly find the solution without having to go through the entire thread. It also helps keep the forum organized and makes it easier for moderators to track and resolve issues.

5. Can I mark a thread as solved after a certain amount of time?

This depends on the specific forum's policies and settings. Some forums may have a time limit for marking threads as solved, while others may not. It is best to check with the moderators or refer to the forum's guidelines for more information.
