Wow. I had not really thought about that, you're right! It reminds me of that song about the guy that gets on the MTA (I think it's the Boston Mass. Mass transit system) and they raise the faire so he doesn't have enough money to get off. Every day his wife comes to the station and hands him his lunch as the train passes by. I always wondered why she didn't just hand him the 15 cents he was short so he could get off the train?
