A DE, maybe easy

  1. Oct 18, 2007 #1
This one looks easy but I don't know.

    ( x[tex]^{2}[/tex] - a[tex]^{2}[/tex] )f' + xf = 0

    Isn't that separable?

    Rearrange to get

    [tex]\frac{f^{\prime}}{f} = - \frac{x}{x^2 - a^2} [/tex]

    now integrate to get

    [tex]\ln{f} = -\frac{1}{2} \ln{(x^2 - a^2)} + C [/tex]
