Yet another "family-values" Republican proves anything but. The AP has uncovered that Rep. Don Sherwood (R-Pennsylvania, 10th district), up for re-election, had a secret mistress for half a decade, physically abused her, and is now paying her $500,000 to keep quiet:

According to a police report, Ore called 911 on her cell phone from the bathroom of Sherwood's Capitol Hill apartment in 2004 and reported that Sherwood had choked her while giving her a back rub. Sherwood admitted having an affair with the 30-year-old woman, but vehemently denied ever hurting her, and criminal charges were never filed. But Ore sued for damages.

Yep, I saw it in todays AM-NY. The usual, paying her to keep quiet I mean. I don't doubt that there is dirty laundry on the democrat side as well. Still, the republicans are self destructing. The inane reaching in many of their negative attack ads against democrats just goes to show how desperate they are (including the way John Kerry's remarks were twisted out of context.). Foley is still hiding in his rehab. Bush continues to act as though his admin isn't dysfunctional.
