Advice Request: separating fibers on a spool, keeping tension

  1. Nov 29, 2011 #1
Hello, I am currently working on a project involving coating carbon fibers in a solution. The biggest hurdle I have run into in my project is in order to get a good coat on fibers they cannot aggregate together or the coating is not uniform. Does anyone know of any patents or literature showing technologies that can keep fibers somewhat separated in order to achieve a good coat while keeping it in tension on a wheel (so they do not tangle)?

I imagine the system to look somewhat like this: http://www.electrofibertechnologies.com/Image1.gif [Broken] (source: http://www.electrofibertechnologies.com/news.htm [Broken])

    Any advice much appreciated.
