A Anomalies in a first course of the standard model

  1. Jan 5, 2017 #1
I have been learning the field content and the Lagrangian of the Standard Model. I was wondering if cancellation of gauge anomalies and the anomalies in global symmetry are topics that can be skipped in a first course on the Standard Model.

How important is the topic of anomaly in a beginner's toolkit of the Standard Model?
