Another Q

  1. Sep 17, 2005 #1
A lead ball is dropped into a lake from a diving board 5.00 m above the water. After entering the water, it sinks to the bottom with a constant velocity equal to the velocity with which it hit the water. The ball reaches the bottom 4.60 s after it is released.
    how deep is lake?

do you have any idea how distance traveled
    depends in time and/or speed?

Find out how long it takes for the ball to hit the water. The time of passage through the water is 4.6 s less that time.

Find out the velocity of the ball when it hits the water.
That's the speed with which the ball travels through the water.

You've now got the speed and the time travelled at that speed. Work out the distance travelled.
