Australian Universities

I currently live in West Australia (and currently have no plans to move). Next year im looking at starting a chemical engineering degree, however, there are a few questions i need to ask. Firstly, how important is it that i choose a good university? Do employers seek people from more 'prestigious' universities generally?

In West Australia, there are only two universities i would consider going to for engineering; the University of West Australia (UWA) and the Curtin university of technology. How should i go about deciding which one to apply for? How should i decide which has the better course? Is there anyone who is familiar with the australian universities who could perhaps give some input?

    Thanks in advance,
