Over the years, there's been many threads that have been so boring they haven't received even one single reply (they were obviously ignorant of Rhody's ploy of declaring his own thread dead, thereby generating a slew of replies).

Of the threads so boring that no one replied, which is the best? Some nominations:

Honable mention: PrudensOptimus wishing Hurkyl a happy birthday and not one single person replied. Was that because the person wishing the happy birthday was so boring or because the person he was wishing happy birthday to was so boring?

Ivan_Seeking and wolram seem to have a knack for starting threads that no one replies to. In spite of that, it was really hard to find a wolram thread to put in the list.

I would have put lisab's https://www.physicsforums.com/showthread.php?t=365985 [Broken] in the list, but as soon as I do, someone will probably reply to it.

I've noticed that Evo avoids still born threads by banning people that fail to reply to her threads.

A one time ploy, I assure you, no one will be suckered again.
I never am failed to be amazed at this crowd, how one thought leads to another, day in and day out, you can almost predict posts that have some linkage to future ones, for instance this one. Hmm, in all my meager 532 posts, not counting GD posts, and ones for video's, TED for instance I seem to get at least 100 views, and some responses.

Sometimes a slew of new posts are born out of chat on Sundays, like MM's poll on "affective disorders" which is instructive, helpful and funny. To me, the hardcore PF crowd are part of a collective that at times acts a big, virtual, dysfunctional family. Never boring I assure you, from time to time there are surprises which keeps it interesting, at least to me, that's why I stay and come back for more.

There I am done, this thread can die peacefully now, although I doubt it because of the bickering it will create from the members reading, reflecting and commenting on and poking fun at each others life changing, one of a kind, no response posts. Ahhh, in the end it is all good isn't it ?

I figure the only reason drizzle's thread received no replies is because the video left everyone speechless.

Funny, I must have blocked the "Ugly the cat out of my memory", that is one of those posts that I could only watch once as well, no wonder. I believe you should not ignore the worst mankind offers. I put it up as a reminder to be kind and not turn your back on abuse and neglect.

Wolram starts a lot of threads with no replies, but you couldn't find one?

Not surprising that I would have a lot of threads here. For about five years I spent at least one or two hours a day finding links and news stories to post, to help build the forum. This was especially true back in the early days ~ 2003-2006. In the very early days it was more like four hours a day.

I have to cast my vote for duki, I thought that video was interesting and I would have replied to it had I known about the thread.

That's not true. I've never replied to her threads and I'm still h

I'm not familiar with PrudensOptimus stuff, but I will say that Hurkyl is anything but boring. He's currently defending the MWI interpretation again over at the quantum physics forum. Some of Hurkyl's recent interchanges with KenG there have enlightened me a bit.

 I think it has to do with her diet, which she published recently in a thread in the P&WA forum. She needs to eat more steak, imho.

Are you supposed to vote for the most boring, or for the most interesting?

    The best.

And for those that loved Ray Bradbury's "The Watchful Poker Chip of H. Matisse", that could be the most boring.

So, the most boring, or the most interesting? I still don't know what you mean by "best".

I just had a thought, amazing, huh ? How about the member most responsible for thread's dying. Their contributions did not stimulate activity or they were the last person to post in threads that then went dormant ?

    Rhody... o:)

 All my posts are too interesting to have the honour of getting on this list. I feel so alone.
